He was a member of the famous forward line together with Václav Nedomanský and belonged among the stars of Czechoslovak hockey in the sixties and seventies. Golonka represented Czechoslovakia at many world championships and Olympic games, where he won several medals. Karel Novák was a renowned ČTK sports photographer specializing in hockey photography.
