The 1962 World Cup in Chile was the pinnacle of Czechoslovak football when the team advanced to the final against Brazil. Josef Masopust was the legendary captain and 1962 Ballon d'Or winner. František Schmucker nicknamed "Lála" was an excellent defender. Svatopluk Pluskal "Kadraba" and Tomáš Pospíchal "Kvašňák" were other key players of the silver team.
