Historic membership card of the Czechoslovak Sokol Organization from 1948 with four stamps attached, slet membership card for the All-Sokol gathering in Prague 1948, issued by unit II. Praha Radlice - Jungmann region, with stamp and number 66442. The XI. All-Sokol gathering in 1948 was the last major Sokol gathering before the organization was banned by the communist regime in October 1948. The gathering took place in June 1948, mere months after the communist coup in February, and became a symbol of resistance against the incoming dictatorship. A record 340,000 participants took part. Radlice is a Prague district and Jungmann region was named after Josef Jungmann, an important Czech revivalist. Four attached stamps prove membership validity and participation in the gathering. Number 66442 indicates card registration. Rare memorabilia for collectors of Sokol documents, lovers of Czechoslovak history, or those interested in the dramatic year 1948 and the last free gathering.
