A piece of hockey nostalgia from the days of honest kit on open-air rinks! Two ice hockey shin guards by VHV Opus, one with a black and one with a red ribbed hard plastic shell, both with a white plastic kneecap and red fabric padding. The guards are stitched and have a black fastening strap. These are two separate pieces in different colours, not a matching pair. Signs of use give them an authentic character, so they are best suited as decoration for a hockey pub, clubhouse, fan corner or cottage.

Expert note – FAQ
What are ice hockey shin guards for?
Ice hockey shin guards protect a player’s knee and shin from pucks, sticks and skates. They consist of a hard plastic shell over the shin, a kneecap and soft padding. They are worn under hockey socks and held in place with straps or tape.
Can old hockey equipment still be used for playing?
Older hockey equipment usually no longer meets current safety standards, and materials such as plastic and padding age over time and lose their protective function. It is therefore best used as decoration or a collectible rather than for actually playing hockey.
How can retro hockey gear be used as decoration?
Retro hockey gear is ideal for sports pubs, clubhouses, fan corners and cottages, where it adds an authentic atmosphere. Shin guards, gloves or old sticks can be hung on the wall, combined with shirts and photos, or displayed in a cabinet.
