Expert note – FAQ

What does a limited edition postcard mean?
A limited edition postcard was issued in a fixed print run, here 300 copies, stated directly on the reverse. Such cards are produced by small specialist publishers for stadium collectors. The limited run adds to their rarity and to their appeal for groundhoppers.

What makes the Estadio Panamericano architecturally interesting?
The Estadio Panamericano in Havana stands out for its massive concrete floodlight towers with long cantilevered arms that hold the lights high above the stands. Together with the wave-shaped stands, it is a striking example of Cuban sports architecture from around 1990.

Why collect several postcards of the same stadium?
Different postcards of the same stadium, such as an inside view of the stands and an outside view of the facade, complement each other in a collection and show the building from several angles. Cards from different publishers and years also document how the stadium and its surroundings changed.
