Népstadion (People's Stadium) was the largest Hungarian stadium built in 1953, named according to socialist terminology. The stadium had a capacity of over 75,000 spectators and was home to the Hungarian national football team. In 2002, the stadium was renamed Puskás Ferenc Stadium after legendary Hungarian footballer Ferenc Puskás. The original Népstadion was demolished in 2016 and replaced with a modern arena. The postcard from 1998 captures the stadium in its final phase before renaming. Népstadion hosted significant football matches, concerts, and sporting events. Budapest has a rich sports tradition and the stadium was a symbol of Hungarian football. A rare postcard ideal for collectors of stadium memorabilia, fans of Hungarian football, or enthusiasts of Budapest.
