Békéscsabai Előre FC is a traditional Hungarian football club founded in 1912. The name "Előre" means "Forward" in Hungarian and was a typical name for sports clubs in the socialist period. DC in the stadium name probably refers to "Dolgozók Csapata" (Workers' Team). Békéscsaba had a strong football tradition and the club played in the highest Hungarian league.
