Condition: found, good
Dimensions: 14,8 cm x 9,7 cm
Original postcard featuring Estadio Salazar in Mozambique, marked with code GRB 635. This collector's item is in perfect condition - unused, unaddressed, and without a stamp. Estadio Salazar was named after António de Oliveira Salazar, Portuguese dictator who ruled Portugal and its colonies including Mozambique from 1932-1968. The stadium was probably located in Lourenço Marques (today's Maputo), capital of then Portuguese Mozambique. After Mozambique gained independence in 1975, the stadium was renamed. The postcard documents the colonial era of Portuguese Africa and architecture of that time. Mozambique was a Portuguese colony until 1975 and football was an important part of colonial life. A rare postcard ideal for collectors of stadium memorabilia, those interested in colonial African history, or enthusiasts of Portuguese football and Mozambican history.
