Expert note – FAQ

What is the Upper Deck World Cup USA 94 card series?
Upper Deck World Cup USA 94 is an officially licensed football card series issued for the 1994 World Cup in the United States. It included player and team cards, among them the Road to Finals subset covering qualification. Versions with bilingual text were made for Europe; this one is in English and German.

How did Colombia qualify for the 1994 World Cup?
Colombia qualified for the 1994 World Cup by winning their South American qualifying group, famously beating Argentina 5–0 in Buenos Aires in September 1993. At the tournament in the USA, however, they were surprisingly knocked out in the group stage.

How can I tell if an Upper Deck card is genuine?
An original 1990s Upper Deck card can be recognised by the security hologram on the reverse, sharp colour printing and The Upper Deck Company copyright line with the year of issue. Beware of colour copies without a hologram or with a merely printed one that does not change when tilted.
