Expert note – FAQ

Who was the footballer Jan Lála?
Jan Lála was a Czech football defender, born in 1938 in Libická Lhotka, who played mainly for Slavia Prague, then called Dynamo Praha, and did his military service with Dukla Pardubice. He won 37 caps for Czechoslovakia and a silver medal at the 1962 World Cup in Chile.

Why was Slavia Prague called Dynamo Praha in the 1950s?
Slavia Prague was named Dynamo Praha from 1953 to 1965, as clubs were incorporated into state sports organisations after 1948. Newspaper clippings from that period therefore refer to Slavia as Dynamo, which is worth knowing when searching for and sorting a collection.

What is a clippings album about one player worth?
A clippings album devoted to one player captures his career as the press of the day saw it in real time, including details that never made the statistics. With line-ups, match reports, photos and commentary, it is a unique ensemble that cannot be found elsewhere in this form.
