Original club pennant of Fussball Bezirksliga Dresden from the 1979/80 season, made of textile with single-sided printing. Bezirksliga was a regional football competition in the GDR that formed the third or fourth level of the East German football system. Dresden was one of the most important football regions in the GDR, home to the famous Dynamo Dresden. The pennant from 1979/80 documents the organization of amateur and semi-professional football in socialist Germany. Bezirksligas were regional competitions organized according to administrative districts (Bezirke) of the GDR. The Dresden district had a strong football tradition with many clubs and active players. The year 1979/80 was part of the late GDR period before the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. Single-sided printing of the pennant ensured practical use at football events. Rare memorabilia for collectors of East German football souvenirs, Dresden football fans, or enthusiasts of GDR football history.
