Stamp archive, lure - flies, 1980
Code: 88/S17770Product detailed description
Condition.
Sheet size: 18 cm x 14,3 cm
Complete sheet of 25 Transkei stamps with nominal value 5c from January 15, 1980, dedicated to the theme of fishing lures - flies for sport fishing. Transkei was a bantustan (homeland) in South Africa that had formal independence between 1976-1994, recognized only by South Africa. Stamps with fishing themes were popular among collectors and anglers. The motif of artificial flies for trout and other fish fishing represents a connection between sport and nature. A complete sheet of 25 pieces in original condition has higher collectible value than individual stamps. The year 1980 falls into the period of Transkei's existence as an independent state entity. Rare memorabilia for collectors of South African stamps, philatelists focused on sporting themes, or enthusiasts of fishing and sporting lures.
