Winter Olympics 1956. The 1956 Winter Olympics took place from 26 January to 5 February in the Italian town, Cortina d'Ampezzo. These games were unique for several reasons: all but one of the venues were within a very short distance of each other, the games were the first to rely on sponsors, and they were the first Winter Olympics to be televised.

The 1956 Winter Olympics in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy were the seventh Winter Olympic Games and brought many dramatic sporting moments. Herman Mochel was apparently a participant in these games, probably in alpine skiing or other winter disciplines. Cortina d'Ampezzo is a famous Italian winter resort in the Dolomites and the Olympics there was a major event. The series of 100 images represented a complete collectible collection capturing various athletes and moments from these games. Card number 26 is part of this unique Olympic series.
